DOGGING

Back in 2008 fashion photographer Steven Meisel created a fashion editorial around the theme of ‘dogging’ – which is a British term for having sex in semi-public places like cars, parks or movie theaters.‘The State Of Sex’ was initially shot for Vogue Italia, and even though this euro version of Vogue is known to feature the more boundary pushing editorials it declined in featuring this particular series. Luckily good old V magazine doesn’t bounce back from the controversial and featured the series instead. In celebration of spring break last week V was doing some flashbacking on their online site and featured the series once again.

The Park

Well, but actually what might be more interesting than a series with some models shot in night vision bouncing around half naked in designer clothing, is the fact that the series itself is kind of a homage to the works of Japanese photographer Kohei Yoshiyuki. Who in the seventies shot a series called ‘The Park’ and applies pretty much of the same set-up and approach except of course for the designer clothing. In 1979 The Park received some recognition while being exhibited as a published book in Tokyo, but the International acclaim took about 30 years when in 2007 the work was exhibited throughout Europe and the US.
