World Minimal Music Festival – 3-7 April
Muziekgebouw Amsterdam and Muziekgebouw Eindhoven present the World Minimal Music Festival from 3rd until 7th April.
The third edition of this bi-annual festival offers concerts from renowned international bands, ensembles and musicians such as Kronos Quartet, Konono No. 1 and Ben Frost. Expect trance-ritual music, electronic beats, and soundscapes. Daily side programs are provided by organizations such as Subbacultcha!, 22tracks.com, and Gonzo (circus).
The programme will include music by pioneering composers such as Steve Reich, Louis Andriessen, and a completely new version of Canto Ostinato from the recently deceased Simeon ten Holt. Icelandic/Australian producer Ben Frost will bring two different concerts with a spectacular mix of minimal music and intense soundscapes. There will also be world music by the highly energetic cult band Konono No. 1 from Congo and the Court Music Troupe of The National Gugak Centre from Korea.
Various international DJ’s, musicians, and producers will also perform at the festival café outside the concert hall, in the daily side programs. In Amsterdam, there will be DJ sets with African cassette tapes by Awesome Tapes From Africa, a concert by British/Berlin Casio wonder Heatsick, a 21-hour composition inspired by Erik Satie’s Vexations, and more. Flemish musician Microphonics is one of the headliners of the side program in Eindhoven.
