Chime For Change
Gucci launches a new global campaign to support girls’ and womens’ empowerment, led by Salma Hayek Pinault, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and Frida Giannini.
To introduce Chime For Change to the world, Salma Hayek Pinault will present the short film ‘The Supreme Price’ that she narrates, with new music by Beyoncé. The short film tells the story of Nigerian democracy activist Hafsat Abiola and is part of a series of ten short films about inspiring girls and women.
Chime For Change aims to collect, unite, and strengthen voices speaking out for women and girls all around the globe and focuses on three key aspects: Justice, Health, Education. The stories range from Malala Yousafzai’s personal fight for education in Pakistan to headlines of violence against women in all corners of the world, from India to Ireland, South Africa, and the United States.
The primary aim is to encourage people throughout the world to support girls’ and womens’ projects in a personalized, individual way. Gucci has a long history of engagement with girls’ and women’s issues, including a seven-year partnership with UNICEF in support of girls’ education. Other famous supporters are John Legend, Jada Pinkett Smith, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, his daughter Mpho Tutu, and many more.
