UNHATE

Benetton releases their new campaign in the series of the Unhate Foundation that supports the fight against hate and discrimination in all its forms. This campaign is however less controversial than the former campaign featuring kissing political and religious leaders. The new campaign features for example Lea T a transgender and disabled model that was discovered two years ago by Givency and Mario Calla who caused a stir during Berlin Fashion Week in 2012 when wearing shorts that showed off his artificial leg. Transgender rights have been quite hot topic in the last few weeks when Guardian columnist Susan Moore claimed that modern women these days are expected to have bodies like ‘Brazilian Transsexuals’. The piece lost its momentum when columnist Julia Burchill wrote a piece depicting the transgender community as ‘bedwetters in bad wigs’ and ‘shemales’. The Observer later pulled the piece. Good thing there is a Benetton in this world to visualize equality for all.
