I guess it might be hard when your brother or sister is aiming for the same profession. Chances are big that one might be more successful than the other. This exact situation has been a bit the case with the Knowless family. Beyonce is by now a world star, whereas her sister Solange has been standing a bit in the shadows of this success. Constantly being compared to her sister, you could imagine it to be frustrating to say the least. She did however managed to get quite a big record deal with label Geffen for her 2008 project ‘Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams’, but despite its success she decided after to discontinue the contract and go completely independent. Quite a bold move, one that definitely paid off. Last October Solange released ‘Losing You’ of her forthcoming EP ‘True’, which was released digitally in November on independent label Terrible Records, owned by Chris Taylor of Brooklyn based band Grizzly Bear. Solange collaborated with the amazing Dev Hynes from Blood Orange on all the songs.

January 8th 2013 ‘True’ will see its official release on CD and Vinyl. In the meantime you can download it from Itunes.
