BLUE CHRISTMAS
I lost count of how many different versions of Mariah Carry’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’ are out there, but it’s commonly known that Christmas albums and songs can be great pension plans for musicians – hence the many Christmas songs every year. The slowcore band Low produced one of my favorite Christmas records of all time in 1999. The album features minimalist versions of Christmas carol classics like ‘Little Drummer Boy’, ‘Silent Nigh’ and Elvis Presley’s ‘Blue Christmas’ plus several thematic songs by the band self. A less commercial approach then most Christmas songs, but a very beautiful one.
