SPFW FW13: Triton

Written by Maite Catti

This collection breathed an air of rock & roll and coolness mixed with a 90’s feel showing baggy trousers, with belly bottom tops and oversized jackets. The often romantic image of  botanical prints were transformed by Triton into roses with thorns, aloe vera with spikes and carnivorous plants, giving the garments a raw edge. As the show continued the black and grey tones were replaced by blue and bordeaux in materials such as wool, jacquard, sequins and denim.

Short Q&A with the designer of Triton

What was your very first idea when starting this collection?
It started with an idea of revolution, a continuation of the past with influences of college, rock & roll, the army and the 1990’s. I wanted to bring these elements of the past to the present.

What makes you different from other Brazilian designers?
I think my silhouettes and use of shapes are rather distinctive and the way I mix materials and styles. I also often design oversized garments.

Slowly during your show colour became more apparent with each new look, why this approach?
I started quite minimal in greys and whites, then the collection becomes more rock and roll, so I add bright red and other colours.

How would you describe Brazilian fashion?
Fresh!
