The Romance of Running
Nike has created the Nike+ app, with records your every running move, so you cans hare the results with all of your friends, worldwide. To celebrate the launch of this app Nike has created the Nike+ Experience in the old filmmuseum in Vondelpark, where the feeling of running is translated into “The Romance of Running” exhibition.
For the exhibition five well-known Dutch innovators, such as Pepijn Lanen and Arie Boomsma (pictured above with Bonne Reijn), have teamed up with six artists to tell their personal running story. Artists such as Cata Pirata and Pinar & Viola have translated these stories into art objects. Video artist Niek Pullens made an interactive video installation which is also on display at the exhibition. Tonight the exhibition will be opened for the invitees, from tomorrow until the 24th of August 2012 everybody can visit it. The old film museum is open every day and entrance is free.

The best things about the Nike+ Running App: it is free, you don’t need any fancy sensors of special sneakers and it is available for iPhone as well as Android. On the app you can track your route via a map, track your speed with Google Maps and it shows time and calories burned. Not too sure about the last one, because that depends on a lot of subjective factors such as height, weight, heartrate, etc., but a very nice app. You can ‘challenge’ yourself by setting personal goals, connect with over 3 million Nike users and compete with your friends. Enjoy your run!
