Banksy does the Olympics

As the City of London is buzzing with activity regarding the 2012 Olympics, there have been many speculations whether or not Banksy will step in and use the games as a backdrop for some of his new works. Authorities have stated that there is a ban on graffiti during the games, and any public graffiti will be power washed on discovery. But we all know Banksy likes to mess with the police and recently two new Olympic-themed works have been uploaded to his website, presenting the police with an interesting issue..

Should they make an exception on their own rules and leave Banksy’s pieces untouched, thereby losing face because they apparently do not have a strict policy. Or should they remove the murals, thereby depriving the City of London of the on-site cultural tourism and of money? It is commonly known that the value of buildings rise significantly after having Banksy murals stencilled on them and recently a piece of wall from the boarder between Israel and Palestine containing a Banksy mural was removed and offered by a New York gallery for a staggering $250,000. What will the authorities chose?  Money or power? Banksy always knows how to hit the right buttons.. interesting to see what will happen!
