Lanvin is keeping it real
For their A/W2012 campaign Lanvin decided to refrain from using regular models and pulled real people, aged between 18 and 80, ‘from the street’. The ad campaign was shot by Steven Meisel in New York, and shows a range of styles Lanvin can be applied to.
Albert Elbaz told Women’s Wear Daily: “I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes,” Elbaz told WWD. “It felt like a crazy family, and I like that.” Love the result, and certainly a welcome relief after last year’s dreadful dancing ad campaign for Lanvin AW2011..
Among the models are a waiter, a milliner, a recent US immigrant as well as two of Ari’s ladies (Advanced Style), like the 82-year-old former Apollo dancer Jacquie “Tajah” Murdock, who always wanted to be a model. Elbaz certainly made her dream come true!
