LIBERUM ARBITRIUM A/W 2012-13: GHOST

Written by Precilla Sedney

Liberum Arbitrium presents a delicate, yet masculine A/W collection inspired by artisanal aesthetic, that has some sort of revival in Tokyo this season. The collection is called Ghost, focussing on a combination of structure, soft draping and abstraction. The idea that lies behind it: everything works like a ‘ghost’ and the items compliment eachother when layered.

Japanese fashion designer Shinsuke Mitsouka is well-known for designing women’s wear in the past, and heavily structured work similar to Gareth Pugh and Julius, but this time he chose for a more subtile approach. He did a hell of a job, considering he’d never designed menswear, let alone used traditional Japanese techniques. The Kyoto textile fabrics really emphasized the detailing and the structure of the garments.
