Unfortunately it is still a rare occasion: homosexual individuals divulging their thoughts by rhyming on a hip-hop beat. Too many rappers are in fact – judging by their lyrics – homophobic, and their image wouldn’t allow it to show the tiniest amount of sympathy towards this sexual orientation.

Fortunately though, there are these rappers that just don’t give a fuck. Meet Mykki Blanco. With ‘Join My Militia’, this New York based queer-lyricist is being as honest as can be. Crawling through the sand of a deserted beach – smeared make-up all over the face – this transgendered rapstar is bragging and bossing on a bass-heavy composition of pure filth. The lights are dimmed, and squids are being stuffed in the mouth – Blanco is indeed the truth and no one’s gonna stop her.
