Nasutamanus the levitating elephant

Currently Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna is exhibiting Daniel Firman’s gravity defying sculpture Nasutamanus. The elephant, which seems to have suctioned itself to the gallery walls using its trunk. The elephant is life size and was created after Firman had consulted a professional taxidermist to make his creation look hyperrealistic.

The elephant was already exhibited in Palais de Tokyo (pictured above) and the Fontainebleau Castle, both in Paris, doing the elephant’s version of a hand stand.

Nasutamanus, part of a group exhibition called The Circus as a Parallel Universe, is on display at Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna through September 2, 2012.
