Aleksandra Domanovic: Stacks
The work of Berlin-based, Yugoslavia-born Aleksandra Domanovic focuses on profound social and media-technological transformations, thereby using material that is related to her background – the television, music, and monumental art of Yugoslavia – as well as materials that claim transcendence of the personal and national, such as Getty Images’ database. In an attempt to attain universality, most individual subjectivity is lost by distortion. This is the main focus point of Domanivic’ work.
For her ‘Stacks’ series (2011), she meticulously printed thousands of pieces of paper (7500 per stack, to be exact) using a PDF file and an inkjet printer. On her website you can download one of her other stack designs and print it at home.
