The Ideal Place
Thomas van Linge, 2011, Camus and Sisyphus Walk into a Bar….
The Ideal Place, a group show curated by Danielle van Zuijlen with works by Alicia Framis, Krien Clevis, Thomas van Linge and duo Wouter Osterholt & Elke Uitentuis opened today at the 400m2 project-space Nest in The Hague. The exhibition deals with the notion of utopia with a realistic twist.
Referring to an eponymous show organized in the 90s by HCAK (The Hague Center for Contemporary Art), The Ideal Place introduces the four artists’ refusal to treat utopia only as a pie in the sky, from Alicia Framis’ serious speculations into the possibility of a future settlement on the moon (Moon IKEA houses) to Thomas van Linge’s rendering of the impossibility of an ideal place as such (Camus and Sisyphus Walk into a Bar…).
