Exclusive online EP Release of Oh, Brave Wide Eyes

Oh, Brave Wide Eyes are a young indie-folk band from Utrecht. Their melodic, modern approach to folk-music is influenced by bands such as Fleet Foxes, The Low Anthem and Other Lives. They have recently recorded a new EP, which is pre-released exclusively via BLEND.nl. Unlike most bands, OBWE prefer to record their music analog, on  a Tascam TEAC 144, a 4-track recording device. For those in the know, it’s what Bruce S. used to record his Nebraska album with.

But why would one, in this digital era, tire oneself with such an archaic piece of machinery? Oh, Brave Wide Eyes feel Well feel that the  ways in which people come to know bands have changed; because the internet has become an indispensable tool. This has increased the “offer” of bands. Thousands of bands are eager for you to listen to their music online. This means bands have to somehow distinguish themselves from the masses.

Musicwise, of course, but also with a unique concept or story. On top of that their tracks have to be easily accessible. Oh, Brave Wide Eyes feel they meet both needs by recording in this lo-fi manner: it provides a unique concept, and adds a characteristic “feel” to the songs. Also, it is a relatively cheap process. Because of that, OBWE are able to share their EP with all of you, pre-released exclusively via BLEND\! The official EP-presentation is tomorrow evening in Utrecht, during Club 3voor12 for those who are interested. Listen to the full EP below.
