Furniture Factory by Lucas Maassen & Sons

Designer Lucas Maassen designed a furniture collection, called Furniture Factory, and hired his sons Julian (7), Maris (7) and Thijme (9) to paint it. All the items are made by hand in Maassen’s studio, and the boys have each been given a contract which states that they will receive 1 euro per painted piece of furniture. Since the children are only allowed to work a maximum of three hours a week due to Dutch child labor laws, there is only a small time frame in which the furniture can be finished. Therefore the boys work as fast as possible. Combining this with the relative height of the boys; every finished piece of furniture is bound to look unique.
