Hacking the City
Hacking the City in Eindhoven is an event and exhibition about the rediscovery of freedom in the urban environment; approaching the city as a living laboratory for creative and inspiring research. The ten day exhibition on city planning, design, art, and architecture starts October 10 and will continue until October 30. More than twenty national and international participants exhibit their work, focusing on urban interventions, street art, experiments, and research.
MADlab asked five designers to create new works with visuals, sounds and media, but in order to do so they need your donations on the crowd funding website Voordekunst.
Visitors and patrons of Hacking the City will be wowed with a surprising experience. The event takes place in Eindhoven during the Dutch Design Week in October.
The five artists include:
1. Ralph Brodruck | architect, artist (technical)
Ralph Brodruck creates interventions that trigger new perceptions of the surrounding, which are more than sensory.
2. Marcel Sloots | graphic designer (visual)
Marcel Sloots developed an ‘illegal photo exhibition’ in Eindhoven, where a series of photos were mounted on the decaying backside of shops and other abandoned places.
3. Kees Tazelaar | composer (audio)
Kees Tazelaar’s autonomous work consists of audio art and the composition of electronic music.
4. Sander Veenhof | artist (media)
His work focuses on new models of interaction and communication. Fascinated by augmented reality Sander Veenhof explores new possibilities to open up the virtual public space.
5. Bas Geelen | designer (visual)
The starting point of Bas Geelen are always existing symbols, archetypes, infrastructures, or concepts. By reinterpreting, combining or re-situating them, he gives them new values on a small and big scale.
