Nobody Beats the Drum

NBTD - by Leon Hendrickx

Three years after the release of their debut album ‘Beats Work’ electro band Nobody Beats the Drum are about to release their second album ‘Currents’ during Amsterdam Dance Event 2011. Over the last years the band built a reputation in the international dance scene by setting up authentic live shows and collaborating on diverse EP’s and remixes. With ‘Currents’ Nobody Beats the Drum jumps into the deep.

For their new album Nobody Beats the Drum was musically inspired by the inventor and engineer Nicola Tesla. Tesla -most famous for his patents and theoretical work, which formed the basis of modern alternating current (AC) electric power systems- invented bizarre contraptions like the ‘death ray’ (Teleforce weapon) and the ‘earthquake machine’ (Tesla Oscillator), which nearly shook Tesla’s lab to pieces. The new album is more experimental, exciting and layered than before. ‘Currents’ delivers the ‘rave, party, beats, and electro’ we are used to, but this time they used real drums and produced some songs with vocals.

For their new live show Rogier van der Zwaag built ‘The Amazing 333” Telenovem Automaton’. An impressive name for an impressive installation of two hundred kilos of steel, nine screens and a diagonal TV screen of 333 inch. This installation by visual genius Rogier will guarantee the ultimate symbiosis of sound and visuals.

Next month Nobody Beats the Drum will go on tour with their new album, plus installation. Their biggest and most challenging adventure yet. The album will be released during the Amsterdam Dance Event in Studio K on October 21. The album will be released on Basskerk records.
