The Scent of an Objet d’Art

Creating eau de toilette for 40 years the well known luxury perfumer, Diptyque, has created a decadent but modern limited edition bottle in collaboration with Saint Louis Crystal. Relaunching a concentrated version of the two famous scents Philosykos and l’ombre dans l’eau, Diptyque commemorates the years of success the St. Germain based perfumer has had.

The exclusive flask containing the precious scents is the most exciting part, since Diptyque joined forces with the crystal producer Saint-Louis; the sole guardians of filigree crystal. The bottle signifies travel and memories. The traditional art of filigree crystals was reintroduced to France in the 19th century and practically used solely on decorative “paperweight” objects.

The most extraordinary thing about the glass flask are the black lines in it. These lines are lead, an element that can give blood poisoning and cause illness. In Dyptique however, they are kept inside the glass and instead of death cause inanimate beauty.
