Japan Fashion Week

Japan Fashion Week

As we all know Japan has suffered a lot these past few months after the earthquake and its aftershocks, the tsunami and the nuclear disaster. It’s needless to say that this is catastrophic for the country. There is also a massive impact on their fashion industry.
The Japan Fashion Week that was scheduled from 21st until 27th of March had to be cancelled. With this 12th edition they wanted to open a gateway to success for young designers and turn Tokyo into a more fun and stylish city. Without the publicity and orders from buyers it’s almost impossible to accomplish that. Therefore Japanese designers are now asking support from all over the world. Here is a message from one of the fashion designers in Japan.

Near.nippon – Takuya Miyama / Tomoko Kamijima
We would like to offer our sympathies to all those affected by this disaster and the families of its victims. We feel that what we should do at this time is to make and provide clothes that will brighten our hearts. We hope that as many people as possible will find peace in the days to come.

2011-12 A/W MOTHER TREE
COEXISTENCE
Nature and technology
Growth rings of the huge trees which soar to the ground
play
beautiful patterns
The technology which we can’t imagine will continue to give
stimulus
Under the unlimited and vast sky
they grow up and repeat the decline fleetingly
become our memories and live together
