WORLD MINIMAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Hypnotic, repetitive and breathtaking: since as far back as the 1960s, minimal music has been entrancing people with deceptively simple means. Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam and Muziekgebouw Eindhoven are paying tribute to this exceptional genre with a programme which includes music from Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Simeon ten Holt, Michael Nyman, Aardvarck and Machinefabriek. Expect five days of crystal-clear music, DJs, film, workshops and talk shows.
Besides the concert programme, there will be a daily warm up with a minimal music marathon and the After Dark programme at the Festival cafe from March 30 until April 3. During the opening night music experts such as renown minimal music composer Steve Reich, producer Tom Trago and minimal music expert Maarten Beirens, will discuss the genre at the Festival cafe. Online music platform 22tracks.com will perform a live remix session and there’s a workshop by renown guitar maker Yuri Landman.
This second edition of the World Minimal Music Festival will be opened on the 30th of March by Steve Reich, who will perform his early work Clapping Music. Check out the full programme at minimalmusicfestival.nl.
