LCD Soundsystem announce Goodbye show
Some decisions just seem to make no sense at all. While general consensus is that being successful, famous, wealthy and able to whatever you like isn’t exactly the thing one would avoid, LCD Soundsystem looks at this from another perspective. The New York-based group announced its pending breakup last summer. Frontman James Murphy: ‘It’s all just gotten bigger than I planned or wanted. Not that I’m against it but I don’t want to get bigger. What’s the goal now; get fucking huge? I don’t want to be a famous person. It’s fucking great where we are. I get on an airplane and nobody has any idea who I am. I just want to do other stuff.’
The members announced they’d release one more record called This Is Happening, which served as their victory lap, and now it’s time for a final show. On April 2, LCD Soundsystem will perform a goodbye show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The show will be a marathon set, with the members performing together with friends and family for nearly three hours. The band’s requested for all of the attendees to wear black and white only. Tickets for the show will go on sale coming Friday, February 11.
