De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, the most notorious rap formation in the Netherlands, celebrates its 10th birthday this year. Last summer, the first part of a documentary series about the band was shot in which we will see how Willie Wartaal, Vieze Fur, Faberyayo and producer Bas Bron experience musical highlights and look back on special moments of the past 10 years. There are many different rumours of how the band came into existence. They got noticed in 2005 with the single ‘Watskeburt!‘ which was released by Magnetron Music in collaboration with TopNotch. The past few years they released four albums with hits such as ‘Sterrenstof‘ and ‘Gekke Boys‘. BLEND\BUREAUX brought Warsteiner into contact with De Jeugd because of the creative character of the band. They’re not only the best word artists in the Netherlands, but they are – just like Warsteiner – a very special family. In October, artist Adele Renault was commissioned by Warsteiner to portray the band in a hyperrealistic oil painting (above). This portrait was released during an intimate event in Amsterdam concept store SPRMRKT. 50 limited editions were produced and only a lucky few were able to take the work home.

With the documentary series, Warsteiner wants to show that the life of an artist isn’t always strewn with roses. Success is alternated with less glamorous moments, but the close friendship and unbridled passion for music inspires the guys to always go all out. These days it takes young creatives a lot of courage to follow your passion to the end, because you’re very vulnerable. Warsteiner understands this struggle and wants to support every creative mind by inspiring them to always do what your heart says. That’s why the tagline of the accompanying international campaign says the following: “If you are looking for something, something real, something to actually believe in, go for it, take it, chase it, know it, taste it, be proud of it, dream it, hunt it, fight for it, love it. But whatever it is you do, Do it right!” The worldwide ‘Do It Right’ campaign shows with this documentary series how young wolves pursue their passion.

The new album by De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig will be released in the summer of this year and on June 11, the band will celebrate their anniversary in the Heineken Music Hall. In the meantime you can watch the first episode here.
