Todd Hido (1968, Kent, Ohio) has been exhibited worldwide. His work have been presented in many museum collections, including the Whitney Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, along with many other public and private collections worldwide. Hido’s work is primarily focused on urban and suburban landscapes, powerful portraits and nudes. But most noticeably, his oeuvre is permeated by an intense cinematic feel, think Hitchcock and Lynch.

The greatness of Hido’s works lies in his capacity to tell a story amidst the desolation of the most suburban american towns, getting behind the hidden fears and stories of his subjects. Aesthetics and fragility heighten the surreal atmosphere, leaving a deep sense of wonder and melancholy.

This time around, Hido will take us down memory lane, showing us a personal and surrealistic world of meaning and metaphor behind everyday scenes: be it the deep stare of a woman or even just a street sign, Hido is able to convey a thousand of emotions at once, stirring us from the inside out to reveal the complexity of a memory, thought or imagined reality.

Deeply melancholic, surrealistic and sensual, Todd Hido’s photography will leave you breathless and wanting more.
