On April 1, the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles is planning to host a celebratory concert as a salute to the 10th anniversary of the David Lynch Foundation, the director’s nonprofit foundation that has worked to bring “transcendental meditation to at-risk populations suffering from PTSD.” The concert promises performances and interpretations of the renowned director, actor and musician’s catalog by acts like Duran Duran, Jim James, Karen O, Moby, Angelo Badalamenti (the composer responsible for soundtracks such as Twin Peaks, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive), Chrysta Bell, Donovan, Julee Cruise, Kinny Landrum, Rob Mathes, Sky Ferreira, Steven Drozd and Wayne Coyne, Tennis, Twin Peaks, and Zola Jesus. Composer Rob Mathes will act as the music director for the show, and will also reinterpret some of Lynch’s compositions. The nonprofit has presented similar fundraisers in the past, such as ‘Change Begins Within’ in 2009, featuring Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and a unique Nashville concert headlined by Jack White and Brendan Benson. It has also launched its own charity inspired label called Transcendental Music. Tickets can be purchased here, ranging from a $45 Rear Balcony place to $1,000 VIP seats with a private pre-concert event with David Lynch, top shelf cocktails and crafted hors d’oeuvres, and a limited edition concert poster designed by Shepard Fairey.
