Solo exhibition ‘Colors of Iran’ by photographer Ali Mousavi

‘Colors of Iran’

Unfortunately there are many tragic and cruel sides to Iran and because of the influence of media we tend to focus only on the negative things. That’s why photographer Ali Mousavi wants to show us that there is also beauty and admiration to this Middle Eastern country. He wants to show us reality. His first solo exhibition ‘Colors of Iran’ in collaboration with creative agency Kult & Ace will have it’s grand opening on March 2o.

“I’ve had a Western upbringing with Persian influences and have been visiting Iran since I was 6 months old. Standing in between two cultures, I am aware of the image that is shown to the world by the Western culture concerning Iran. This gave me the idea to bring Iran into the picture without distorting the image by glorification or even demonization. To show a neutral perspective of the reality captured with my camera, and thereby let the viewer experience the realness of the country Iran.”

Ali Mousavi is one of those photographers who doesn’t need an education in photography, everything he knows he learned by himself.
In October 2013 he visited the many facets of Iran. Of course there is war, pain and sadness, but if you take a closer look you’ll also find loving families and culture. That is what Mousavi photographed on this extraordinary journey, which resulted in an explicitly beautiful but, most important of all, authentic photo series.

Come take a closer look at this astonishing series at creative agency Kult & Ace in Amsterdam from March 23 – 27 and be inspired by reality. For further information and enquiries concerning this upcoming event please visit the Facebook-page ‘Colors of Iran’.
