Launched at Amsterdam book boutique MENDO, online magazine Fontanel‘s new collection of Dutch Design Talents is now available for sale. The book is the definitive showcase of the best design talent in the Netherlands last year. In 208 pages, the hardcover packs 19 talents, studio visits, columns and an inspiring dialogue with leading creatives on “the gap” between work and education. The book features 19 talents that graduated from renowned art schools in the Netherlands, from Design Academy Eindhoven and Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam to The Hague’s Royal Academy of the Arts. Each of these creatives are remarkably distinct although they share something special: a combination of unadulterated creative thinking and an auspicious attitude.

The ‘Fontanel Finals’, the founders’ Dutch campaign, has become a yearly tradition and showcases the leading Dutch art academy graduation shows. The influential ‘Fontanel Dutch Design Talent’ insignia is awarded to the magazine’s favourite graduate students in graphic design, fashion, illustration, product design and art. The theme of this year’s book explores the gap between work and education, with personal stories by the Dutch Design Talents and personal short stories by leading creatives Martin Pyper, Femke Agema, Kali Nikitas, and Joachim Baan. The book also features an inspirational dialogue held between Nalden, Liza Enebeis, Marcel Kampman, and Pauline van Dongen. Another part of the book focuses on the work by photographers Jordi Huisman and Marijn Smulders who were sent across the Netherlands to document the diversity in creative spaces.
