David Cronenberg at EYE Amsterdam

videodrome-1

As of 22nd June until 14th September, EYE Amsterdam will host a unique exhibition taking director David Cronenberg as source of inspiration. Cronenberg gained cult status thanks to his peculiar films about the interplay between body, mind, technology and mass media. This exhibition explores the world of Cronenberg through the main theme in his films: the physical and psychological transformation of his characters. Centre pieces are the extraordinary special effects attributes, next to props, set photos and original costumes.

Some of his most striking films are Shivers (1975), Rabid (1977), Videodrome (1983), The Fly (1986), Naked Lunch (1991), Crash (1996), eXistenZ (1999), and A History of Violence (2005).

The exhbition has on show, among others, the helmet from Videodrome, the game consoles from eXistenz, the chirurgic instruments from Dead Ringers, the leg braces from Crash, the typewriters from Naked Lunch, and the Telepod from The Fly.
