CRUISE IN STYLE WITH VAN HEESCH DESIGN

A supporter of unorthodox design, Bart van Heesch founded his eponymous company in 1995. Focused on design solutions, the alumnus of Eindhoven Design Academy has always been a conceptual thinker. Being a Dutchman, Bart values practical things combined with innovation. And in his case, this love for Dutch design translates into bikes.

Now he has merged onto the scene with a collection of bicycles that stand out. The well-loved omafiets has received a shiny upgrade. Every possible metal part has been dipped in copper, giving the bike an otherworldly look. “Even the moving parts?” you might find yourself wondering. The answer is yes. Everything on the bike is plated with copper, from the chain to the seat springs.

Van Heesch says: “I used the archetypal bike. This model hasn’t changed for 100 years and for me it’s still the best city bike in Holland. Its sturdy design means that nothing will be broken and if it is, then it’s easy to repair. All the parts are copper-plated, which means the bike becomes more beautiful as the years pass.”

But van Heesch hasn’t stopped there. An extraordinary bike needs fitting accessories. So, if you are willing to go the extra mile, there is a matching chain lock available for purchase. And, if you want the full set, you can cruise down the streets with a matching bike bell mounted on the handlebar.

His designs have been featured in Vogue Living Australia, Red magazine, New York magazine, More Than Classic magazine and various other publications.

If you want to ride in style, the copper van Heesch bicycle definitely fits the bill. It’s a looker that will make heads turn in awe. If you feel like you need this shiny and magnificent specimen in your life, you can find it at TWOL24.com, a platform that features independent labels.
