Bravoure: Life is our stage

This week Dutch fashion label Bravoure presented their new collection for spring/summer 2012, called Serpentine, in Magna Plaza in Amsterdam. The collection features jumpsuits, flowy skirts and fireworks prints.

Since a few weeks Bravoure has a pop up shop/atelier in Magna Plaza shopping centre in Amsterdam. The label, which debuted last January at Amsterdam Fashion week, is the brainchild of two lovely girls who go by the names of Patricia Hofstede and Kim Jansen. Whereas Kim takes care of the technical aspects, such as creating patterns and overseeing the production, Patricia does most of the designing and the PR.

Although the brand is just a few seasons old, yet it has clearly developed a signature style. Jumpsuits, feathered accessories and capes are key elements in the collections, which are reminiscent of the 1920’s and 1930’s due to the art-deco inspired patterns and statement hats trimmed with feathers. The clothing is produced in Poland from scratch in order to keep the items afforable, but accessories are made by hand by the girls from materials they find anywhere, on antique markets for example.

Bravoure’s motto: Life is our stage! And their designs work well on stage, which has been proven by dressing Dutch bands and DJ’s, such as Daily Bread, Spacegirls. One of their outfits even appeared in a video for Paul Oakenfold and Cee-Lo Green. Dressing in Bravoure might make statement on stage, but the items are also classic enough to be worn in daily life without ‘pulling a Gaga’.
