‘Bardo’ is a photo series by fashion photographer Bita Cuartuas who is based in Medellin, Colombia. Cuartas investigates what happens after death, since our existence is only of a temporary nature. The title of the series is derived from a notion in Tibetan culture which states that after death the soul begins a journey of 49 days during which it experiences a few transition states (‘Bardos’).
