BLOOOM AWARDS – CALL FOR ARTISTS!

Since 2010, the creative agency BLEND/BUREAUX has forged the link between creative influences and our client, Warsteiner. In order to express the premium value of the famous German brand beer, we support the artistic event BLOOOM AWARD. Warsteiner and our agency believe in helping creativity by feeding artists who are thirsty for recognition for their work. The BLOOOM AWARD event is a professional opportunity created for all lovers of art.

What’s running? Today, you are able to apply and submit your art project to the artistic competition. The international event, which was founded in 2010 by the German beer brand, participates in multicultural exchanges.

Seize the chance to apply and expose your art piece of work in front of a professional jury from the Art market. In 2016, the competition is waiting for hundreds of applications from all around the world to finally give help to artistic projects and let the best get a foothold into the world of professional art. Who can apply? Everybody! Actually only two conditions are required. First, you must be aged 18 or over. In addition, you must have worked on a piece of art.

The opening for applications has started!

The BLOOOM AWARD received more than 1,200 applications from 65 countries. Moreover, the special exhibition with the ten finalists was a great success. Last year, the winner of the competition was Samira Elagoz, 24. She won the first prize for the documentary Four Kings.

The non-budget documentation relates to experiences with strangers. She experienced exchanges with strangers who answered her online ad: “READ ME! I’m a 24-year-old girl making a short documentary film. I’m looking for strangers. The concept is that I meet you at your place and film how we get to know each other. We handshake and the camera is on the table for both of us to use. Msg me if you want to meet :)”

Each year, five jury members are gathered to choose the ten finalists from the participants. The jury always consists of Catharina Cramer, Yasha Young and Walter Gehlen, and two additional guest judges are chosen from the creative industry.

The jury are always looking for all demonstrations of artistic expression, and they’re waiting for projects between fine and urban art, from photography to films. Because art is so subjective, feel free to express your vision. For the seventh edition of the competition, several prizes are possible to win:

THE WINNER:

The first prize winner will receive a trip to Art Basel Miami Beach with one of the members from the final jury.

The winner makes an exhibition at the BLOOOM – the converging art show – and presents their work in front of 35,000 people and gets to socialise with gallery owners, collectors and media representatives.

In addition, the winner has also the opportunity to get a year of mentoring by a member of the jury.

The young artist will be able to advance their career in the art world together with one of the jury members from the competition, giving opportunity to gain a foothold in the international art market. The winner will also benefit from a public announcement at the Grand Award ceremony in October 2016.

THE SECOND PRIZE:

The second artist has the opportunity to showcase their talent by exposing their work during a solo exhibition in a selected gallery. To discover and learn more about the art world and to gain practical knowledge, the second place winner will get to travel to Paris for a unique experience in the famous city of Art.

THE THIRD PRIZE:

The third place winner on the podium wins one day of mentoring with the art expert: Walter Gehlen (Co-Founder of ART.FAIR KOLN). The idea is to settle a strategy towards launching the finalist’s work in a successful way. The goal is for the finalist to gain valuable advice and relevant knowledge from an expert, relating to business and strategy on the international art market.

  THE TOP TEN FINALISTS:

After the competition, the last ten finalists will display their work during the concerning art show. Their work will be shown on a stage, demonstrating their skills and creativity to the world during the exhibition, which is hosted in Cologne, Germany from the 27th to the 30th of October. On site, finalists have the chance to make important contacts with curators and galleries. As a part of the Art Fair | Fair for Modern and Contemporary Art – which is Germany’s third-largest art fair – the Blooom offers its finalists the invaluable opportunity to draw the attention of galleries, curators and collectors as well as its large general audience. The final exhibition is hosted in Cologne, Germany.
