Anuschka Blommers & Niels Schumm: The Future of Sex

Amsterdam duo Bloomers & Schumm have an eye for capturing their subjects as much as the clothing in their fashion shoots and always manage to depict intriguing narratives of hyper-real scenarios. Recently they were commissioned to produce a series for the latest issue of Baron, a magazine that aims to blur the boundaries between porn and art. It’s part of a new wave of publications that explore the niche of seemingly sophisticated fetishisms (see also Odiseo, Talc, and Adult).

Their images for ‘The Future of Sex’ merge the male and female body into contorted positions. Muscular and pale skinned, the bodies lie elongated across office carpets while their unsettling blurred gender results in a dehumanising effect.
