AKILA BERJAOUI’S THOUGHT PROVOKING PHOTOGRAPHY, CAPTURING THE ESSENCE OF THE FEMALE BODY

Lake Como Akila Berjaoui

Australian photographer Akila Berjaoui has recently relocated to the Netherlands to continue her work in nudity photography. Berjaoui, who started as fashion intern for RUSSH Magazine, recently opened a solo artist exhibition at Human NYC presenting a new collection of photographs called “you better get out of the sun before you melt”. Her photographs capture a mix of provocation and sensuality, inspired by the 50s, 60s and 70s when women were far more experimental and not afraid to explore their bodies. Sending a strong message by creating an intimate and authentic affair and accentuating the allure of nature and beautiful surroundings. Berjaoui’s photography shows the beauty of the female body without any add-ons like heavy make-up and lots of clothes. Naturalism is key; it needs to be real, human. Her visual diary is as real as it gets, reflecting her daily emotions, she uses her camera to journal and document her life. Photography is her personal form of expression. Telling stories through images by channeling her feelings, her mood often influences location and subject matter as well as her model choices. She favors models whom she has known for a longer period of time. Her subjects are often friends whom she admires and feels inspired by. She needs to feel a certain connection. She uses her emotions to create breathtaking imagery, which makes every one of her photographs unique. They define Berjaoui as a creative mind, but also as an extraordinary woman living her life with ups and downs, just like everybody else.

Creating intimacy and capturing the essence of the female body in thought-provoking images is what makes Akila Berjaoui stand out from the crowd.

Her work is now available on TWOL24.com.
